Go to Start>  Settings> Personal> Input.

Set the input method as XT9 and tap on options.

Now uncheck all of them (If u lk 2 typ lk ds [if you like to type like this]).

Now tap done.

And, it’s done!

Simple, no patch needed.

Note: After you do this, it is possible that whenever you start yping a new message, the on-screen keyboard pops up and thus you can only enter numbers using the keypad. And when you hide it and start re-typing the numbers you erased would reappear. There’s a solution for this. Do as I’ve mentioned above and then select keyboard as your input method. This way if you accidently type numbers and erase them, they won’t reappear.

1. Go to: C:\Windows\System32 (if C is your installation partition)
2. Open gpedit.msc
3. Click on User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar
4. Find the entry that says “Remove Run menu from Start Menu”. Double click it.
5. Change the value to “Enabled.”

Done! Now you can do the rest of the troubleshooting!

First do a complete system scan before you proceed. It might happen that some virus did this thing.

After you’ve scanned your computer, open My computer, Go to your windows folder and hit Ctrl + F. This will open the search pane. There, Click on ‘All files and folders’ and in the ‘All or part of the file name’ field, enter msconfig.exe and hit enter.

Let it search for it. In the meanwhile, open regedit (START>RUN>type Regedit) (Cannot find run command? Click here). Before proceeding, backup first (How to backup your registry).
Now, go back to the search window and look where msconfig.exe is. If you can’t find where the file is, right-click in an empty area of the window>view>details. Note down whatever is written in the ‘In folder’ column.
Again,  go to regedit and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\

Here, look for MSCONFIG.EXE. If there isn’t a key of that name, right click on App Paths>click New…>key. Name this key MSCONFIG.EXE. If there’s already a key named click MSCONFIG.EXE click it. In the right pane, double click the ‘default’ string and in the dialog box that appears, enter the path to msconfig.exe that you noted down in the value data field, including “msconfig.exe” in it. For example, if msconfig.exe is in the “C:\WINDOWS.0\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\” folder, then enter “C:\WINDOWS.0\pchealth\helpctr\binaries\msconfig.exe” in the Value data field.

1. Open Regedit (START>RUN> type REGEDIT.EXE) (Cannot find run command? Click here)
2. Go to File>Export…
3. In the dialog box that appears, choose the destination where you want to save the backup files, enter a name that you can understand later.
4. Click Save.

Yep, that’s it. Now Do whatever you want to do with it.

If it’s the second case, just update your anti-virus definitions and do a full computer scan. The error will be rectified.

If it’s the first case, then do the following:

Go to START>RUN> type regedit.exe

First back up your registry (See: How to Backup your registry) then navigate to the following key:

Well, the first query gives you links to all the pages on the rapidshare.com which have the words “C++ in 21 days”. The point of inserting the name of the book in “” is that then Google searches for the exacts words. Else, it would skip the word “in” (it hardly matters) AND will randomly search pages where there are the rest of the words (C++, 21, Days). ah, Google.
The second query will give you LINKS to rapidshare.com pages. Links will be on some other site. It may be a blog site or whatever.

Both the methods will yield a bit different results, but am sure you’ll get the books.

Another method other than googling your book is to use torrents. Though using torrents you won’t get full speed (For eg. if you have a 32kBps connection, you’ll get something around 24-28kBps. Nothing more than that.). First, download utorrent (download now size:263kB). Then, go to any torrent downloading site ( mininova.org, btjunkie.org, demonoid.com, etc) and in the search field enter the name of the book you want to download. Read the comments first to make sure the torrent is ok, and has good number of seeders. Download the torrent and open it in utorrent. Let it download the file.

Flazx.com - A very good collection of books is available here. Most of the best selling books are available for free download. Books are uploaded to rapidshare and other file hosting services mainly.

freetechbooks.com - Though never had the need to go to this site, cause flazx has most of the books i need. I stumbled upon this site. If anyone tried/tries it, please comment on how it is.

Wikibooks.org - Of the people, by the people, for the people. People create books here themselves, they edit and they read it. They’ve got plenty of books though. Here’s the complete list of books they have.

Project Gutenberg - Well, this one is mainly for cultural books. I guess. You can get Shakespear books here, etc. etc. Pardon me, I don’t read english novels so i don’t know many authors. You can search here if you need any litarature book.

1. Open your Gmail.
2. In the chat list, open a chat window for an online contact.
3. Click the options button in the tiny chat window that appears on the bottom-right corner of the main window. Click on “Add voice/video chat”.
4. Quite simple from thereon.

On the download page, it says (like all other google products) “It’s free and installs in seconds” and yes it is true because the file to be downloaded is only about 500KB. The setup again downloads some files (automatically) which are about 2 MB I guess, because it didn’t take much time either.

Quite nifty I must say. Good job Google (even though I have a bias against Google for personal reasons )

One more thing: this is only available for Windows XP and Vista and Mac OS X as of now. Not working on Linux (I’m on Ubuntu Hardy Heron right now and the page simply says “not supported on linux yet”) All modern browsers supported like Firefox 2.0+, Safari 3.0, IE7, and Google Chrome.
